ALL INFORMATION ABOUT HYMEN. Femininity has a lot of aspects. Women have emotional, physical, and intellectual sides that add up to her total personality. And the physiology of women has a lot to do with her being feminine. One part of her body that's relevant to the femininity of a woman is her hymen. This is a part of the female genital area. A lot of speculations, facts, and myths surround it. But what is the real idea behind a woman's hymen? What really is it?

The clinical description

Hymen is the membrane, which encloses the vaginal area. A lot of people presume that it is inside the vagina. Well, it certainly isn't. It is actually outside. It is a part of the vulva, or the external genital. It is in the exterior area, slightly blocking the entrance to the vagina. It is a thin set of tissues just around the opening.

Clinically, it has been discovered that hymen comes in various shapes. The most common of which is the half-moon shape, which allows menstrual blood flowing out easily. It may happen that the hymen covers almost all of the vagina's lips. If this is the case, then menstrual blood won't flow out easily. It can result to both back pains and abdominal pains. Hymen defects are not easily discovered during childhood, although it maybe possible. Most of the time, it is diagnosed during puberty. Minor surgery can usually corrects the problem.

To give you a more graphical idea, the hymen is that thin sort-of-skin covering the vagina. The vagina, as we all know it, is the female reproductive organ. If it covers the vagina, then your vagina is behind the hymen. Normal hymen provides for a slight opening for the organ.

Now this is the very reason why virginity is usually associated with the hymen. An intact hymen is wrongly believed to be the telltale sign a woman is sexually pure. This is definitely wrong. Hymens are very delicate. Some sports or activities can damage the hymen. And it has been discovered that some women's hymen is not as intact as others. Hymens vary vastly in shape and form in every woman. Some women were even born without one. Hymen was not found to have any physiological nor clinical use in the body. So those women born without hymen won't feel any physical defects or difficulties at all.

On the lighter side

Putting the scientific facts aside, hymen has gotten its name from the Greek god Hymenaeus. He is believed to be the god of marriages and weddings. If there's an individual that comes to mind when marriages or weddings are referred to, chances are, it is a woman. Every woman cherishes these things, maybe in a number of different ways from one another. But it all boils down to one thing; Marriage and weddings are sacred. This is the reason why the hymen is named after that Greek god Hymenaeus.

Hymenaeus is represented as a young man with a wreath of flowers and a torch. He is asked to attend a wedding for it to be fruitful and happy. Else disaster would come about.

Summing up

A hymen is a physical part of a feminine body. It is merely an element, and does not comprise the totality of a woman. All studies and researches up to this present time still cannot accurately give the full medical description of what a hymen is actually made up of. Hymens do not have any bodily function. It shouldn't definitely be a determinant of a female's virginity.
